Terps Host Quad Meet Saturday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland gymnastics team (4-3) will host its second quad meet of the year Saturday afternoon when No. 16 Denver and EAGL opponents Rutgers and West Virginia all head to College Park. For the first time ever, the Terrapins will host a regular-season meet on the Comcast Center Main Floor in the arena.

Maryland comes into this weekend's meet ranked No. 3 in the East Atlantic Gymnastics League and No. 21 nationally in the vault event. In last week's meet at West Virginia, senior Talia Tossone won the balance beam event with her score of 9.800. Freshman Briana Melander earned a new career-high on the beam with a 9.750.

Junior all-arounder Abigail Adams tied for first in the floor exercise. Adams, along with freshmen Ally Krikorian and Kesley Cofsky all finished in the top five in the vault. As a team, the Terps earned their highest team floor score of the year with a 48.575.

Scores will be loaded online at umterps.com on the team's schedule page. They will be refreshed after each rotation. Admission is free and all fans are welcome to attend an autograph session after the meet.

SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
The Denver Pioneers come to College Park undefeated with a 5-0 record. They are ranked No. 16 nationally, No. 24 in vault and the uneven bars, No. 13 on the beam and No. 8 in the floor exercise. Sophomore Brianna Artemev is currently placed at No. 19 nationally, averaging a 39.083 in the all around, with her highest score being a 39.250.

The West Virginia Mountaineers (6-2) are currently No. 4 in the EAGL and feature both the league's Gymnast of the Week in junior Amy Bieski and Specialist of the Week in senior Chelsi Tabor. As a team, the Mountaineers are ranked No. 16 nationally in the floor exercise.

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights are currently sitting seventh in the EAGL and 1-2 overall. They host Temple Wednesday night. They are ranked No. 5 overall in the Northeast region. Senior Laura Sevarino is in the top ten all-arounders in the region.
