Terps Kicks Off Home Slate Friday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland swimming and diving team opens its home slate Friday when it plays host to North Carolina at 3 p.m. at Eppley Recreation Natatorium.

The Terrapin women's squad swept a pair of conference dual meets last weekend, topping NC State and Duke. Junior Ginny Glover and senior Annie Fittin led the way for Maryland. Glover won the 200 free and 200 back in both meets and Fittin won the 50 free both days and took the 100 back against Duke.

The men are seeking their first win this season and will have a tall task against the 13th-ranked Tar Heels. Freshman John Hauser had a tremendous first weekend was victorious in the 500 free, 100 free, and 200 free.

UNC boasts ACC Performer of the Week Tommy Wyher, who guided the Tar Heels to wins over East Carolina and Georgia last weekend. The women split last weekend, defeating ECU but falling to national-power Georgia.

Maryland welcomes former Terps Saturday for its annual Alumni Meet following its home opener Friday.
