COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Jordan Hagel hit a grand slam to lead the Red Team's offensive explosion in a 13-3 win over the Black Team in game two of the 2010 Red vs. Black Super Regional.
Hagel's fourth-inning homer off of Black Team starter Brady Kirkpatrick gave the Red Team a 5-2 lead that it would not relinquish. Hagel finished the night 2-for-5 with a game-high six RBI.
The Black Team struck first, taking a two-run lead in the first thanks to RBI singles from Brandon Padula and Jake Stinnett.
The advantage, however, was short-lived. The only run the rest of the way from the Black Team would come on a throwing error in the bottom of the fifth.
Tomo Delp had a two-run home run in the seventh and Hagel added a two-run single in the ninth as the Red Team pulled away with seven runs over the final three frames.
Freshmen Ben Brewster and Mike Murphy kept the Black Team's bats silent to close the game. The pair combined to allow just one hit in 5.1 innings of relief.
Red Team starter Matt Lynch gave up two runs in 3.2 innings, and was credited with the win for the Red Team. Kirkpatrick gave up five runs in 3.2 innings of work while taking the loss.
The final game of the series will begin at noon Sunday.
