GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland's Danny O'Brien was honored Monday by the Atlantic Coast Conference for helping lead the Terps to a 42-23 road win over Virginia.

O'Brien was voted the league's rookie of the week for the fourth time this season after he won for the fifth time in seven career starts.

The redshirt freshman connected on 18 of his 28 passes for 289 yards, throwing two touchdowns and rushing for another one. He directed six scoring drives (all touchdowns), was a perfect 6-for-6 in red-zone efficiency and hit on 10 of 11 passes in the second half. O'Brien did most of his damage on third down, completing 8 of 12 passes for 152 yards and one TD. O'Brien ranks fourth in the ACC in passing efficiency (133.5) and fourth among FBS freshmen.

Torrey Smith (offensive back), Joe Vellano (defensive line/MLB) and Adrian Moten (defensive back/outside LB) were also nominated for ACC Player of the Week honors.
