Head coach Brenda Frese

Opening Statement:
"I thought it was a really nice way for us to start, especially with so many new players and faces and getting the first half jitters out. I saw a lot of positive things, especially with our depth, size and length. There are a lot of areas we can improve on early on in the season and there are some areas we need to get better at."

On the play of the freshmen:
"We wanted to get our freshmen as much experience in this game as possible, especially since it is the first game and we play another game on Sunday. We got them as many minutes as we could. We know what our veterans can do, and they are going to continue to lead this team, but we really wanted to spread the minutes around.

On the team's fitness levels:
"You can really see our fitness level, and we have a lot of waves we can send out to the floor so we can stay fresh. You see our players right now and you can tell that they are coming into the season in the best shape of their lives."

Freshman Natasha Cloud

On her first game experience:
"It feels great playing at a school like Maryland. I really can't wish for anything more. I'm very happy that I have this opportunity and that Coach Frese and the rest of the staff are giving me this opportunity."

Junior Lynetta Kizer

On the team improving:
"We need to keep working in practice and in the weight room. I want to contribute in any way I can. We also need to keep running. There were times when we didn't run the floor like we should have. There were a lot of young players out there, but we are still learning. Everybody did play hard tonight."

On the play of the freshmen:
"The freshmen did really well. There were some points that they didn't know, but overall they all played very well."
