Terps Head To UNC In Dual Meet

The Maryland gymnastics team will head south to take on EAGL opponent North Carolina in a dual meet Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in Carmichael Auditorium. Information on weather affecting the meet will be available as soon as it is available at
The 6-4 Terps are currently sitting No. 4 in the East Atlantic Gymnastics League, and No. 34 nationally, while the Tar Heels are just behind at No. 5 and No. 35 nationally. Maryland and North Carolina were supposed to meet in College Park last weekend as well, but were cancelled because of snow.
MEET NOTES
The Maryland gymnastics team, ranked No. 34 nationally, continues its 2010 regular season Friday night when it heads south to take on EAGL opponent, No. 35 North Carolina at 2:30 p.m. in the Carmichael Auditorium.
This meet is the Tar Heels' annual Blue & Pink meet to support breast cancer awareness. North Carolina will also be hosting a cancer awareness fair in the lobby of Carmichael Auditorium from 12:30 p.m. to the start of the meet.
Due to renovations of Carmichael Auditorium last season, the Tar Heels did not have a home meet last year. This is the first home meet for nine of North Carolina's 14 gymnasts.

TERP BITES
Maryland features a senior-laden squad that returns 11 letterwinners from a year ago.
The Terrapins are currently ranked No. 25 in the vault as a team, No. 31 on beam and No. 35 on bars.
Freshman Ally Krikorian is tied for No. 4 EAGL in the vault, while Abigail Adams is No. 7.
Junior Abigail Adams is in the top ten in the all-around with an average of 38.606. Brandi George is seventh on beam.
As a team, they are second in the conference in vault with an average of 48.738, are fourth in bars with an average of 48.600 and are third in beam with a 47.919.
SCOUTING THE TAR HEELS
North Carolina is currently ranked No. 33 on bars and on beam and No. 25 on floor.
The Tar Heels are led by senior Christine Nguyen, who averages a 39.000 in the all-around, putting her at the top spot in the EAGL.
Nguyen is currently the conference's beam leader with an average beam score of 9.837 and a high score of 9.875. She is second in the floor exercise with a high score of 9.850 and an avrage of 9.837 as well. She is tied for fourth in bars with an average of 9.725.
Sophomore Zoya Johnson leads the EAGL in vault with a high score of 9.850 and an average of 9.850.
Senior Kara Wright is No. 6 on bars with a 9.775 as her high score and her average is a 9.712. Wright is also fifth on floor with a 9.812 average.
