COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland men's swimming and diving team is poised to make a statement at the 2010 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships, beginning Wednesday.
The Terps boast a plethora of top-ten times in the conference this season heading into the four-day championships, led by three apiece from junior Mitch Challacombe, sophomore Andrew Relihan and senior Aleksandar Damjanic. Challacombe ranks among the league's best in the 50 and 100 free as well as the 100 back. Relihan, who took third in the 400 IM at the championships in College Park last season, has upper-echelon performances in the 200 back, 200 and 400 IM. Damjanic has been a diverse swimmer for head coach Sean Schimmel this season and has top-ten showings in the 200 free, 100 and 200 fly.
Maryland finished eighth at the 2009 ACC Championships and made history by breaking 14 school-records during the meet.
The Terps will begin championship action Wednesday night with the finals of the 200 medley relay at 6 p.m. and the 800 free relay at 7 p.m. Live results of all sessions are available by following the link to the ACC Championship Central above.
