Five Terps tallied points Thursday as Maryland put up a solid showing on day two of the 2010 ACC Men's Swimming and Diving Championships.
Maryland started with a solid showing from its distance crew in the 500 free as Brian Honore finished 12th and fellow senior Chris Rouchard (4:29.62) took 16th. Honore's time of 4:25.09 was also an NCAA B-cut qualifying performance.
Andrew Relihan gave Maryland its strongest showing on the night, finishing seventh in the 200 IM. The sophomore, who took third in the 400 IM as only a freshman in last year's championships, swam a 1:47.37 in the prelims before tallying a B-cut time of 1:47.69 in the finals.
Mitch Challacombe and Ryan Greene both put points on the board for Maryland in the 50 free. Challacombe finished 12th with a B-cut time of 20.26 while Greene, a senior, finished 15th with a time of 20.58.
Maryland wrapped up day two action with a seventh-place finish in the 200 free relay. The combination Matt Gruszecki, Kevin Reardon, Challacombe and Greene tallied yet another B-cut performance for the Terps, finishing with a time of 1:21.43.
The Terps, who sit in eighth place in the overall team standings heading into day three, return to the pool Friday morning with prelim swims in the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast and 100 back.
