Terps Battle Hokies on Saturday

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Maryland faces Virginia Tech in the only meeting of the regular season between the border-state rivals. The matchup is a battle between the second-place Terrapins and the Hokies, who come into the game in a three-way tie for third place in the league standings with Florida State and Wake Forest. The Terps are two games ahead of the third-place group, but a Hokie win could give Tech a potential tie-breaker advantage should the teams end the regular season even in the standings.

Scouting the Hokies
Virginia Tech is 21-6 overall and 8-5 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, one of three teams tied for third place in the league standings with three games remaining...
Tech is back home after losing its last two games, each on the road (55-67 at Duke on 2/21 and 60-80 at Boston College on 2/24)... The Hokies are 6-0 in league games at Cassell Coliseum this season and a perfect 14-0 overall at home this year...
Junior guard Malcolm Delaney is leading the ACC in scoring with a 20.2 ppg average... He is the only player in the league averaging better than 20 points per game... Delaney does much of his damage at the free-throw line, where he has scored 184 of his 525 points this year, courtesy of a .852 FT percentage (2nd in the league)... Delaney is 7th in the ACC with a 4.1 assists-per-game average...
Junior guard Dorenzo Hudson averages 14.0 points per game, while junior forward Jeff Allen averages 11.3 points per game and a team-high 6.9 rebounds per game this season.
