Head coach Gary Williams
Opening statement:
"I'm looking forward to going down to Charlottesville and playing the last game of the regular season. I'm very pleased with the way we've prepared for each game in conference play and hopefully that'll continue as we get ourselves ready to play tomorrow afternoon. Our team is made up of really good people that have worked really hard to turn us into the team that we are now. Any good team is a result of that. It's a result of learning how to play with each other and then doing the things they can do to make us a better team. I think that's been a very good characteristic of the team this year."
On Adrian Bowie and Cliff Tucker being able to produce in the Duke game:
"Well to put them in the game at a critical point showed that I have confidence in them. I see it in practice every day that they can compete with Eric [Hayes] and Greivis [Vasquez]. They know how to play and as juniors I felt they could handle that situation. They did a good job. Both of those guys were really key factors for us in the second half."
On how the team has performed:
"I knew if we could get a full team on the court this year we would be pretty good. We were, at worst, one of the best 32 teams at the end of the year last year. I felt that if we got everybody out there we'd be OK, and once we did we've been pretty good. I'm not surprised by what we've done."
On Jordan Williams:
"It's not so much whatever points Jordan gets, it's the threat of being able to throw it in to him and something good will happen. Dave Neal was a great player last year but he was a step-out [center]. We had to do some things to take advantage of that as the season went on. This year with the ability to throw the ball inside we've gotten use to having an inside threat and all of the sudden Greivis [Vasquez], Sean [Mosley], Eric [Hayes], Landon [Milbourne], the other inside guys can benefit from that. It allows us to be more flexible with the offense and go inside-out like we want to."
