Maryland's 2009-2010 tennis season came to an end Thursday morning after losing 4-0 to the No. 14 Florida State Seminoles.
The No. 5-seeded Seminoles (13-9) clinched a victory over the No. 12-seeded Terps (5-14) with Jessica Sucupira's 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles over Maryland's Burce Kurkan.
The Terps also lost in doubles, with freshman Burce Kurkan and Lexi Brand falling to the Seminoles' Federica Suess and Sucupira 8-5 at No. 2 doubles to clinch the point for Florida State.
Florida State faces No. 4-seeded Duke Friday morning in the second round.
Other first-round winners included No. 8-seed Wake Forest, No. 7-seeded Georgia Tech, and No. 6-seeded Virginia.
