WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Ryan Lloyd's pinch-hit double with one out in the ninth scored Mac Williamson to break a 7-7 tie and give Wake Forest a walk-off win over Maryland in the season finale for both teams on Saturday afternoon.

Maryland led 7-3 after six innings, but the Demon Deacons tallied three runs in the seventh and one in the eighth to tie the game heading into the final frame.

Reliever Adam Kolarek got Matt Conway to fly-out for the first out in the ninth but then surrendered a single to Williamson, prompting a move for closer Dan Gentzler.

After Gentzler hit Carlos Lopez with a pitch to put runners on first and second, Lloyd hit the first pitch he saw for a double to right field, plating Williamson and giving the Demon Deacons the dramatic win.

The Terps had built a four-run lead on the strength of Jack Cleary's three-run home run in the fourth inning, the first of the year for the redshirt-freshman catcher.

David Poutier led off the fourth by drawing a walk, stole second and then scored on a throwing error by Wake Forest second baseman Mark Rhine. The error allowed Mike Rozak to reach first base. Gentzler, who started the game at first base, followed with a single. That set the table to Cleary's three-run homer, which extended the Maryland lead to 7-3.

The game went back-and-forth in the first several innings. Brandon Padula led off the second with a solo home run to give the Terps a 1-0 lead, but Wake Forest responded in the bottom half of the inning when Mike Murray hit a solo homer to knot the game at 1-1.

Gary Schneider tripled in the third to score Tim Crawford and later came home on a wild pitch for a 3-1 Maryland lead, but again the Demon Deacons responded to tie the game.

Mark Rhine singled, Ryan Semeniuk followed with a run-scoring double and Murray singled to left-center to tie the game at 3-3.

Kolarek (1-4), who was responsible for the winning run, took the loss. Maryland finishes the season 17-39 and 5-25 in Atlantic Coast Conference play.

Joel Ernst (2-1), who pitched the ninth inning for the Demon Deacons, got the win for Wake Forest (18-37, 8-22 ACC).

Maryland starting pitcher Sander Beck, who didn't factor into the decision, had a solid outing. The sophomore struck out five in five innings and left the game with a 7-3 lead.

Schneider, Gentzler and Kolarek all had two-hit days for Maryland. Schneider, a freshman, ends the season on an 11-game hitting streak.
