Aleksandar Damjanic was named to the 2010 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® Men's At-Large Teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Damjanic landed on the third team after a stellar senior campaign both in the pool and in the classroom. He was a member of the fourth-place 800 free relay at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships that established a new school record in 2010 as well setting a new record individually in the 200 free
He also guided Maryland to the 2009 Terrapin Cup Invitational crown, aiding the 200 medley and 800 free relays to first-place finishes while individually winning the 100 fly and taking second in 200 fly and third in the 200 free.
The Zagreb, Croatia, native racked up a 3.95 GPA while majoring in International Business. He was named an Academic All-District selection in 2010.
Senior fencer Jeff Speer of Columbia University and senior wrestler Dan Laurent of the University of Wisconsin La Crosse were named as the Academic All-America® of the Year Award winners in the University and College Divisions, respectively.
The Men's At-Large program for the Academic All-America® includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, tennis and water polo.
