TOWSON, Md. -
Assistant coach Vicki Chliszczyk was named head coach of the Towson gymnastics team earlier this week after five years in College Park. As the Terps' balance beam coach, she helped the Terrapins become one of the strongest competing teams in the East Atlantic Gymnastics League in the last few years.
She spent the first four years of her career at Maryland working under head coach Bob Nelligan and this past year with Brett Nelligan in his first season as head coach.
"I have had the pleasure of working with Vicki for the past five years and although she will be missed, I am so happy for her. I know she will do a great job up at Towson and I wish her nothing but success," Brett Nelligan said.
Chliszcyzk helped lead the Terps to back to back NCAA Regionals appearances in 2009 and 2010 and coached four EAGL balance beam first team members. As a team, the Terrapins finished in the top two of the league on beam the last two years.
Chliszczyk will take over at Towson for Dick and Linda Filbert, a duo that coached the Tigers for 28 years.
