
Beards Named ESPN RISE All-American

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Freshman Candace Beards of the Maryland softball team was named an ESPN RISE All-American outfielder recently. The four-year letterwinner at Paramus Catholic High School in Paramus, N.J. led the Paladins in nearly every offensive category her senior year and comes to College Park this year as a Terp.
Beards was also named an Under Armour All-American last year and was a four-time All-County player in New Jersey. She led her high school team in hits, home runs, triples stolen bases and runs.
Off of the softball field, she is a Black Belt in Tae Kwan Do, was a National Honor Society member, the Director of Student Activities and served as Vice President of the African American Club at her school.
