The Maryland women's swimming and diving team dropped West Virginia on the road Saturday.
Annie Fittin, Ginny Glover, Megan Lafferty and Alexa Hamilton led the Terps to their eighth win of the year. Fittin captured the 50 free (23.52) and 100 back (57.57). Glover won the 200 free (1:51.30). Lafferty touched the wall first in the 100 free (52.12) and 100 fly (56.04). Hamilton reigned supreme in the breast winning both the 100 (1:05.48) and 200 (2:19.57). Katie Hughes captured the 200 back (2:00.92). Addison Koelle won the 200 fly (2:03.42).
The Terps put up numerous other top three finishes including Blair Cross (50 free - 25.03), Elena Donald (100 back - 58.69, 100 fly - 57.32), Hughes (100 back - 58.64), Jenni Roberts (200 fly - 2:06.98, 100 free - 53.26), Erin Stout (100 free - 53.67), Victoria Cassidy (400 IM - 4:24.75), Martha VanLieshout - 4:33.78), and Koelle (200 back - 2:08.53).
The relays were also dominant, winning both the 200 medley, courtesy of Fittin, Hamilton, Lafferty, and Glover (1:46.61) and the 200 free as Fittin, Lafferty, Cross and Glover touched the wall first (1:35.84).
On the men's side, Andrew Relihan took second in the 200 back (1:51.79), 200 free (1:42.74) and 400 IM (4:07.40). Brad Dillon was second in the 100 back (52.67) and John Hauser placed second in the 1000 free (9:49.58) and 500 free (4:44.93). Mitch Challacombe also had a solid day back in the pool, taking third in the 100 free (46.93) and 50 free (21.45).
Roger Dent touched the wall third in the 200 breast (2:10.67) and second in the 200 fly (1:50.90). Sean Stewart was third in the 200 fly (1:52.32) and 100 fly (51.41). Jeff Winters took second 100 fly (51.36). Freshman Jake Stephens was third in the 400 IM (4:13.49).
The Terps return to the pool Feb. 5 for Senior Day against Georgetown.
