Head Coach Brenda Frese

Opening Statement:
"It's nice to have games where every player on our team can contribute and tonight that's what it was about. I thought our team was ready to play...Defensively, we did some really nice things, especially in the first half. You saw us mix it up and do a lot of things we thought we could work on and improve on in this game. I was very satisfied obviously in terms of I thought we tried to get better in some areas. We need to improve in our turnovers but I think that may have had to do with the numerous different combinations we had out there tonight that we don't usually have."

On working on the press:
"We wanted to work on our press and I thought in the beginning of the game they wanted to work the shot clock down, so I wanted to speed up the game that way. Then being able to get a lot of work in our zone witih our 1-3-1, that was nice to be able to play that so we could get some different combinations on our defenses."

On the team's inside play:
"I thought it started with Lynetta [Kizer]. Her approach to the game, her being vocal, her energy, I could tell at pre game she was ready to play today. Also the size advantage we had inside, Alicia [DeVaughn] and Alyssa [Thomas] just really took advantage like Lynetta did just being strong, going to the boards and having that size advantage."

On upcoming games against ranked opponents:
"I'm really excited about it because I really feel we're playing some of our best basketball. It's allowed us as a young team in January to kind of understand what ACC play is about. So this is what I tell them Februry is about- the has and the has-nots- and I really think we're coming into form and peaking at the right time. I'm excited about what lies ahead."

Junior Center Lynetta Kizer

On focusing on this game:
"I don't think it's difficult at all. I think it's something that the coaches told us that it's not about who we play but how we play. I think thats what we wanted to do today, just really focus on playing Maryland basketball. I think we did a good job of being selfless today and playing hard."

Freshman Center Alicia DeVaughn

On her play today:
"Today I was just pretty focused on trying to become the player I know I can be. So for me, having Lynetta, Alyssa and a lot of other teammates step up just proves the point that I need to step up as well."
