COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
The University of Maryland men's basketball team held a controlled scrimmage before a group of Terrapin fans Saturday at Comcast Center.
The team went through offensive and defensive drills prior to the scrimmage, with sophomore Terrell Stoglin moving to the point to replace the injured Pe'Shon Howard. The workout featured the Terrapins' emphasis on defense and rebounding under new head coach Mark Turgeon.
"I feel sorry for Pe'Shon because he was really practicing well," said Turgeon. "We were practicing well as a team."
Freshman guard Nick Faust led Maryland with 15 points, as the Terps played a live scrimmage for one 20-minute half. Senior Berend Weijs scored 13 points.
"Nick was great the first 15 minutes," said Turgeon. "Nick has a chance to be a special player for us. It's great for him as a freshman that he's going to have a chance to play so many minutes. It's just going to help his career."
Maryland is preparing for its exhibition game on Friday, Nov. 4 against Northwood and its season-opener on Sunday, Nov. 13 against UNC Wilmington.
The workout took place before fans already on campus for the football game against Boston College.
