COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland will play the first of two consecutive games in the state of North Carolina on Saturday when the Terps take on Wake Forest.

The team held its final workout of the week on Thursday afternoon and will travel to Winston-Salem, N.C., Friday.

When they board the plane, the Terps will be missing another defensive starter as linebacker Alex Twine, last week's Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week, has been ruled out due to injury.

"I think he might be able to get back [next week] but this week he is not ready to go," head coach Randy Edsall said on a conference call with reporters. "He made progress during the week, but not enough progress to be able to go out there and contribute in any way, shape or form."

Another true freshman, Cole Farrand, could replace Twine in the starting defensive lineup which has already seen seven starters miss time this season.

"We have a couple of different options there," Edsall said. "We can have [Lorne Goree] be the Mike [linebacker] and Demetrius [Hartsfield] be the Will or [Demetrius] be the Mike and Cole be the Will. Those are kind of the options that we are looking at."

Offensively, with Danny O'Brien out for the rest of the season with a broken arm, C.J. Brown gets the nod at quarterback. Brown has started three games this season and played in eight of the 10 contests.

However, with Brown and O'Brien the lone scholarship quarterbacks on the roster, senior wide receiver Tony Logan has been pressed into duty as a reserve signal-caller.

"He's done some good things there in terms of what we've asked him to do," Edsall said. "If need be, we'll have a package for him to go in and be able to handle. We have enough of a package that hopefully he doesn't have to, but if he does, we would feel confident that he could go in and run things for us."

Logan, who is 1-for-1 this season, will serve as the No. 2 quarterback with true freshman Troy Jones penciled in as No. 3.

Saturday's game is scheduled to kick off at 3 p.m. at sold-out BB&T Field.

The matchup can also be heard over the Terrapin Sports Radio Network (TSRN) which includes ESPN 980 in Washington, D.C. and 105.7 FM in Baltimore.

The Terps close out the season on Saturday, Nov. 26 when they play at NC State (12:30 p.m.)

Terp Notes:

Travel Squad: Atlantic Coast Conference rules dictate teams may take as many as 72 players to league road games. However, with the number of injuries on the squad and plans to redshirt most of the true freshmen, Maryland will only send 60 players to Wake Forest. "In all my years of coaching, I can't remember this small of a number," Edsall said.

Edsall on Recruiting: National Signing Day is over two months away, but with the end of the season drawing closer, the coaching staff will turn even more of its attention to recruiting. "I'm excited about recruiting and people we have that have [verbally committed]. I can't mention names or anything like that," Edsall said. "I like the direction that we are going with some other guys that we are still recruiting. Again, there are some more positions that we are going to continue to recruit and work to get guys. I think that when it's all said and done on Feb. 1, I know as a staff we are going to be very happy with our results."

Scout Team Players of the Week: Each Thursday during the season Edsall announces the scout team players of the week. This week's honorees are running back Brandon Ross (offense), defensive back Lukas Foreman (defense) and defensive back Daniel Thomas (special teams).

Flag Bearers: Justus Pickett (American) and Devonte Campbell (Maryland) will carry out the flags during Saturday's introductions.
