COLLEGE PARK - The Maryland swimming and diving team hits the road for the first time this season with a dual meet at North Carolina Saturday. The action begins at 11 a.m.

The Maryland women (2-0, 2-0 ACC) upended both NC State and Duke in its first taste of competition this season. The Terps are led by Megan Lafferty (50 free, 100 fly), Jennifer Roberts (200 and 400 IM), Ginny Glover (200 back, 200 free), Kacie Ciampoli, (1000 and 1650 free) and Alisa Kurbatova (1- and 3-meter dive), who boast multiple top times for Maryland this season.

On the men's side, Maryland (0-2, 0-2 ACC) fell to NC State and Duke despite some gritty early-season performances. John Hauser has been fantastic for the Terps, leading the squad in the 50 free (20.58), 100 free (45.59), 200 free (1:40.19) and 200 IM (1:52.23).

Scouting North Carolina:

• Both North Carolina teams come into Saturday's meet with wins over Virginia Tech. The men won by a score of 165-135, and the women defeated the Hokies 190-110.

• Both teams are currently 3-1 to start the season. They remain undefeated in the ACC with two wins apiece.

• Last year, both teams finished the season third in the final conference standings.

• North Carolina sophomore Stephanie Peacock was named ACC Women's Swimming and Diving Co-Performer of the Week Oct. 25. Peacock won the 200, 500 and 1650 freestyle events against Virginia Tech.
