COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland gymnastics team partnered with Kappa Alpha Order to host Breastfest of Champions on Wednesday, Oct. 26. Through their efforts, the event raised $31,000 to be donated to Hearts for Cancer. The members of the Maryland gymnastics team appreciate the support provided by Kappa Alpha Order and the opportunity to participate in the event.
"Maryland Gymnastics is extremely proud of its partnership with Kappa Alpha, and is thrilled we could help in raising money and awareness for breast cancer research," said head coach Brett Nelligan.
This is the third year that funds raised by Breastfest of Champions will be donated to Hearts for Cancer. One hundred percent of the money received by Hearts for Cancer is donated to Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory for continued research.
In their continued support of breast cancer research, the Terps will host their annual `pink meet' on Saturday, Feb. 18.
"We are looking forward to working with the Greek community again at our 'pink meet' in February, and hope to raise even more support for this cause that affects our daughters, wives and mothers," said Nelligan.
Hearts for Cancer is a Massachusetts based charity dedicated to the mission to fund breast cancer research so that a cure is discovered before the next generation is diagnosed and to empower patients, survivors, family and friends.
