COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland gymnastics team will continue its conference road trip Saturday as it travels north to take on Pittsburgh at 7 p.m. in the Fitzgerald Field House in Pittsburgh, Pa.
“There is always a little more intensity when you're going up against a conference opponent,” said head coach Brett Nelligan. “I like the way the team has prepared this week. It should be a good matchup and an exciting meet to watch.”
In what will be a pivotal meet in terms of conference standings, the Terps, undefeated in the EAGL, will challenge the Panthers whom have yet to earn a conference win.
After opening the 2011 season on a two-meet win streak, Pittsburgh has dropped four of its last five head-to-heads with the Panthers' only win coming against Bridgeport on Feb. 6.In the team's quad meet against No. 21 Penn State, West Virginia and Bridgeport, senior Molly Moyer posted a team-high 38.800 in the all-around competition, giving her third on the night.
Last season the Terps topped Pittsburgh on the road 194.150-193.800. Maryland hasn't suffered a loss to the Panthers since placing fourth in a Pittsburgh quad meet on Jan. 19, 2007.
