COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
The University of Maryland gymnastics team will head south Saturday to challenge its conference foe, the North Carolina Tar Heels in a dual meet at 7 p.m. in the Carmichael Auditorium.
"The team is fired up to compete against one of our conference rivals," said head coach Brett Nelligan. "Chapel Hill is a great venue for gymnastics and we really enjoy competing down there."
Currently ranked No. 33 in the country, the Terps most recently placed third last weekend at their first quad meet of the season, hosted by the University of Michigan. Leading the squad was senior Abigail Adams, ranked No. 47 nationally, who finished in second in the all-around competition with an overall 38.975.
The Tar Heels, ranked No. 35, topped the Tribe of William & Mary in an out-of-conference dual with a team score of 193.325.
Last season Maryland and North Carolina split meets against each other, with each winning duals on the road.
