COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland senior Abigail Adams and freshman Katy Dodds earned East Atlantic Gymnastics League honors for the final weekly awards period, the league announced Tuesday.

"We had an incredible weekend and Abbey and Katy were huge parts of our success," said head coach Brett Nelligan. "It is nice to seem them get recognized by the league."

Adams, a Spring, Texas, native, was named the EAGL Gymnast of the Week for the second consecutive week. Over a three-day span, Adams picked up a pair of all-around titles at George Washington on Mar. 11 and at home, for Senior Day, on Mar. 13. Adams earned no lower than a 9.700 in all eight events and led Maryland to four wins, including three leavue victories which pushed the Terps' season record to 8-0 over EAGL competition. She also tied her career-hgih on Friday with a 9.900 on bars and posted back-to-back 9.850s on floor.

"Back-to-back EAGL honors for Abbey really puts an exclamation point on a great regular season," said Nelligan. "And a great career, overall."

Out of Gaithersburg, Md., Dodds picked up her second league honor of the year following back-to-back 9.800 performances on vault Friday and Sunday. Dodds also brought in three scores of 9.700 or higher on bars and floor exercise on the weekend.

Said Nelligan, "Katy is going to be a big factor for the Terps for years to come."

Adams, Dodds and the rest of the Maryland gymnastics team will travel just south to Washington, D.C. Saturday at 2 p.m. for the EAGL Championships, hosted by George Washington at the Charles E. Smith Center.
