
Terps in 15th After Day One

AUSTIN, Texas - Maryland finished eighth in the 200 free relay to pace the Terps on day one of the 2011 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at Jamail Swimming Center.
The Terps set a school record in their sixth-place premlinary finish (1:28.52) before taking eighth in the finals (1:29.55). The team of Annie Fittin, Megan Lafferty, Ginny Glover, and Blair Cross led the Terps in one of its strongest races of the championships.
Fittin took 19th individually in the 50 free, touching the wall at 22.36. Lafferty, a sophomore, placed 22nd (22.39).
The Terps, who currently rank 15th in the overall standings, return to action tomorrow for day two of the championships.
