GREENSBORO, N.C. -
Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar was selected to the 2011 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Tennis Team in an announcement Thursday by the league office.
The junior is having a stellar first season, helping the Terrapins (13-8, 3-8) reached as high as No. 24 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings.
Sanchez-Quintanar was one of 19 players voted to the team by the 12 league coaches and she is the first Terp selected in four years (Marianne Baker, 2007).
The native of Campo de Criptana, Spain, who joined the team in January, is currently 24th in the latest ITA singles rankings, and sits at No. 22 in the doubles rankings with partner Jordaan Sanford. Sanchez-Quintanar is16-4 singles, including five wins against ranked opponents, and 18-3 in doubles.
Sanchez-Quintanar was named the ACC Women's Tennis Player of the Week on March 22, the Terps' first weekly accolade since Michal Amir in 2007.
Miami's Bianca Eichkorn was voted the league's player of the year. Click here to view the complete release from the ACC.
Maryland, seeded 10th, is playing No. 7 seed Georgia Tech in the first round of the ACC Championship.
