COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Incoming Terrapin Stephanie Giameo finished fifth in the nation on the balance beam and ninth in the All-Around this past weekend in the 2011 Women's U.S. Junior Olympic National Championships at the Long Beach Sports Arena in Long Beach, Calif.

The event boasts approximately 450 of this country's best level 10 gymnasts. These athletes compete at the highest level in the Junior Olympic Gymnastics program, just under the elite level.

"We are looking forward to Stephanie coming here to Maryland in the fall," head coach Brett Nelligan said. "She will bring grace, confidence, and consistency to the Maryland Gymnastics program."

Giameo, a 2010 New Jersey state champion, trains at ENA Gymnastics in Paramus, N.J. A senior at Roselle Park High School, Giameo is a member of both the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society and will graduate this month in the top 10 percent of her class. Giameo was a Junior Olympics National qualifier as a Level 10 in 2009, when she also was a bronze medalist on beam and floor at regionals.
