The M Club and former basketball player Walt Williams hosted the inagural basketball alumni cookout recently in Brookeville, Md.
The event gave Maryland alumni a chance to reconnect with old friends, teammates, and meet new head coach Mark Turgeon and his staff. Guests enjoyed great music, food and basketball stories from former players like Len Elmore.
"The reason I wanted to have this event is because we grew accustomed to having something unique, which is having a coach like Gary Williams for over 20 years and now it's a new era," said Walt Williams.
"I wanted to make sure that we made that transition and the support was there for Coach Turgeon and his new staff. Hopefully, we can continue to have this event and make it bigger and stronger. I love the Terps. My blood is red, black and yellow."
Turgeon thanked everyone for welcoming him and his staff with open arms. "We inherited great character kids, and that makes going to work fun," said the new coach.
