Maryland Finishes 10th at VCU Shootout

MANAKIN-SABOT, Va. - Senior Joey Rice, sophomore Sean Bosdosh and freshman Ben Warnquist all carded 2-under 70s in the final round of the VCU Shootout Tuesday. Two Terrapin golfers finished in the top 35 as Maryland finished 10th with an 865 (294-285-286).

Bosdosh finished the tournament with a 2-under 214 (72-72-70) good for a tie for 17th. Rice, who carded Maryland's low round with a 4-under 68 in the second round, finished tied for 33rd with a 218 (80-68-70).

Freshman Jordan Sweet tied for 53rd with a 5-over 221 (71-72-78). Warnquist's third-round 70 tied him with fellow Terp senior Sean Brannan in 68th. Warnquist (75-80-70) and Brannan (76-73-76) carded a 225.

Virginia bested East Carolina by seven strokes to win the team championship with an 837. Iowa State's Scott Fernandez won the individual title with an 11-under 205 (66-69-70).

The Terps are next in action Oct. 10 at the Firestone Invitational in Akron, Ohio.
