BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Junior Tyler Stump was the first Terrapin across the line as Maryland ran 28th as a team Friday at the prestigious Lehigh Paul Short Run.

On the women's side, Julie Fricke made a successful return to competition Friday, leading the Terrapins with a 26th-place finish overall.

Stump, a junior from Catonsville, Md., had a top-10 finish at the season-opening meet at Mount St. Mary's. He led the Terps to the line Friday and finished 141st overall (25:45 over 8K) in a field that included seven nationally ranked teams.

As has been the case all season, the Terrapins were able to pack their top-five finishers tightly in terms of time, with all five scorers finishing within 44 seconds. Maryland placed 28th as a team in the men's standings with 877 points.

Senior transfer Noam Neeman was the second Terp to the line in 25:54, followed by freshman Nick Regan (25:57), Sean O'Leary (26:20) and Kyle Graves (26:29). Sumanth Kuppalli (26:37), Craig Morgan (26:53), Theo Dorsman (26:54), Alex Willett (27:08) and Cory Puffett (27:21) also ran for the Terps in the Gold Division.

Oklahoma, which came into the event as the top-ranked men's team in the field at No. 4, dominated the team scoring with only 34 points. The Sooners had four runners in the top seven, including the 2-3-4 spots. Georgetown was second with 143 points, followed by Columbia at 156.

Paul Chelimo of UNC Greensboro was the men's individual winner at 23:55. Jeremy Sudbury of Oklahoma (24:12) and Sooner teammate George Alex (24:13) were in the top three.

Fricke helped Maryland to a 20th-place finish in the women's team standings in an event that drew eight nationally ranked women's teams into the field.

Fricke, a junior from Newtown, Pa., finished the 6-kilometer women's course in 21:10, cutting 24 seconds off her time and moving up 28 places from her finish a year ago. Senior Ashley Cromartie was second for the Terps in 22:14, with freshman Myah Hicks finishing in 22:30.

Junior Anna Roth continued to improve her marks in each event by running 22:41, with sophomore Bridget Nolan placing fifth for the Terps in 23:55. Julie Sinkovitz (24:24), Halsey Sinclair (24:28) and Sydney King (24:42) also ran in the Gold Division race for the Terrapins. Maeve McCoy ran in the open division event and finished in 23:54.

Providence edged Villanova for the women's team title, 101-104. Syracuse was third with 125, with top-ranked Georgetown in fourth at 141. Maryland finished with 648 points.

Bogdana Mimic of Villanova was the individual winner for the women, finishing in 20:10. Neely Spence of Shippensburg and Emily Sisson of Providence were in the top three.

Maryland next competes at the Penn State National on Oct. 14.
