Yep's Victory Paces Terps At Blue & Gold

NEWARK, Del. - Junior Becky Yep won the Blue & Gold Invitational to lead the University of Maryland women's cross country squad to a successful showing at the Lums Pond State Park course Friday afternoon.

Yep finished 18 seconds faster than the next runner to cross the line in first place and set a new personal record for the 6k distance at 21:32.63.

Senior Anna Roth continued her solid season, placing seventh overall and was the second Maryland finisher to cross the line in 22:08.97. She also dropped her 6k time and continues to look strong heading into the championship portion of the season.

Junior Bridget Nolan had a comeback performance with a great run and a new personal-best performance, finishing 12th overall in a time of 22:34.33.

Freshman, Catherine Sheffo assisted in the team scoring with another strong performance and improved her 6k time to 22:54.91.

Freshman Katie Nappi was the final scorer for the Terps with a time of 23:01.69. Nappi continues to improve with each competition.

The majority of the 15 Maryland harriers who raced in the event set new personal bests.

The Blue & Gold Invitational served as the final tune-up for the Terps as they next head to the ACC Championships on Oct. 27 in Blacksburg, Va.
