Maryland wrestling head coach Kerry McCoy announced on Thursday the lineup Thursday for the annual Red & Black Wrestle-Offs. The intrasquad scrimmage is Saturday at 12:30 p.m. in Comcast Pavilion.
The Red & Black Wrestle-Offs determine the initial starters for the Terrapin Duals to be held Sunday, Nov. 4. The Terps held preliminary matches this past week to determine the pairings for Saturday.
Following the Red & Black Wrestle-Offs, the Terps will host a banquet at 2:30 p.m. to be held in Sprint Heritage Hall inside Comcast Center where the team will receive its 2012 ACC Championship rings.
The Terps return nine starters this season including All-American Josh Asper and ACC champions Christian Boley, Spencer Myers and Jimmy Sheptock.
Four Terps are featured in Amateur Wrestling News' preseason rankings. At 133, Geoffrey Alexander begins the season ranked 15th. Asper checks in at No. 3 at 174, while Sheptock (184) and Boley (197) begin the season ranked 10th and 12th, respectively. As a team, the Terps are preseason No. 15.

Shane Gentry (Red) vs. Paul O'Neill (Black)
Gentry begins the 2012-13 season on the back of a 14-8 campaign in which he placed second at the ACC Championships and earned his first career bid to the NCAA Championships. O'Neill served a redshirt season last year and went 7-6 in open competition including three wins at the Shorty Hitchcock Open to reach the semifinals.
141 Pounds
Danny O'Malley (Red) vs. Frank Goodwin (Black)
O'Malley appeared in 11 matches last season mostly in open competition. He opened the year with a 5-3 decision over Bloomsburg's Matt Rappo. Goodwin started for the Terps at 141 pounds and compiled a record of 10-12 while facing a team-high seven ranked wrestlers during the course of the season.
149 Pounds
Danny Orem (Red) vs. Lou Mascola (Black)
Orem finished with a record of 10-11 wrestling in open competition in 2011-12 and took third place at the Central Jersey Open in November. Mascola appeared in four dual matches last season and recorded 10 wins overall at 141 pounds. Mascola placed fifth at the Brockport/Oklahoma Gold Classic after pinning Army's Conor Hanafee.
157 Pounds
Brady Massaro (Red) vs. Domenic DeRobertis (Black)
Massaro will make his Terrapin debut on Saturday and is pitted against the veteran DeRobertis. The junior went 10-8 last year notching five wins at the Central Jersey Open and three at Shorty Hitchcock Open.
165 Pounds
Nick Lobue (Red) vs. Josh Snook (Black)
Lobue split time between 157 and 165 pounds last year and wrestled in 19 matches between the two weight classes. Snook wrestled in open competition at 165 and 174 pounds last season. Snook compiled a record of 11-12 with five wins via major decision.
174 Pounds
Aaron Norris (Red) vs. Josh Asper (Black)
Asper makes the jump up to 174 pounds and begins the season ranked No. 3 by the Amateur Wrestling News. Asper went 28-4 en route to a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Championships. In the last two seasons, Norris has wrestled only in open competition.
184 Pounds
Tony Gardner (Red) vs. Jimmy Sheptock (Black)
Gardner went 18-7 last season mostly in open competition wrestling at 184 and 197. Gardner finished third at the Clarion Open and Shorty Hitchcock Open and tied for the team lead with eight pins. Sheptock finished last season with a 27-6 record and won his first ACC title. Sheptock fell one win shy of All-American status at the NCAA Championships.
197 Pounds
Ty Snook (Red) vs. Christian Boley (Black)
Last season, Snook finished with a record of 14-15 with four wins by major decision starting at 184 pounds for the Terps. Boley finished the year with a team-high 31 wins including 14 in dual competition and climbed as high as No. 5 in the nation en route to an ACC title.
285 Pounds
Carl Buchholz (Red) vs. Dallas Brown (Black)
Buchholz is a transfer from Rutgers. Before sitting out last season, Buchholz finished the 2010-11 season with a 16-8 record and placed second at the East Stroudsburg Open and fifth at the Brockport/Oklahoma Gold Classic. Brown wrestled at both 197 and 285 last season and competed at heavyweight in duals against Navy and Virginia Tech.
