Terrapins Release 2013 Schedule

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland softball team announced its 2013 spring schedule Wednesday and the Terrapins will face 16 teams that competed in the 2012 NCAA Tournament.

Maryland will play in five early season tournaments in February and March, before opening its Atlantic Coast Conference slate. The Terrapins will host the annual Miken Maryland Invitational March 8-10 in College Park, as well as four ACC weekend series.

The Terps open the season Feb. 15-17 with games against three NCAA Tournament teams in Long Island, Massachusetts and Michigan, as well as Toledo and tournament-host Florida Atlantic, in Boca Raton, Fla.

The following week, they will head west to play in the Cathedral City Classic in Palm Springs, Calif., where the Terps will take on Missouri, Oregon State, Nebraska, UCLA and California.

March 1-3, Maryland will play in the ESPN Sun Classic at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Fla. They will face NCAA Tournament teams Mississippi State, Hofstra and Notre Dame, as well as Fordham and Fairfield.

In their home tournament in College Park March 8-10, the Terps will take on St. John's Radford, Iowa, Ohio State and Binghamton.

The next weekend, March 15-17, the Terrapins will play in their final early season tournament in South Florida's Under Armour Invitational in Clearwater, Fla. They will take on Boston University, Oklahoma State, Temple, Valparaiso and Dartmouth.

Maryland opens the 2013 ACC slate with a home series vs. Virginia March 23-24, then welcomes Florida State March 30-31.

Next, the Terrapins will hit the road for back-to-back weekend series at NC State and Georgia Tech, then return home April 20-21 to host Boston College. North Carolina will come to College Park April 27-28. Maryland will close out the regular season with a series at Virginia Tech May 4-5.

The ACC Tournament will be May 8-11 in Tallahassee, Fla.

In 2012, the Terrapins went 34-22 overall and 10-8 in ACC play. They earned an NCAA Regionals bid for the third consecutive year and first time in school history.
