BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Maryland softball team finished its weekend with a 2-1 win over No. 22 Kentucky (4-5) Sunday. The Terps were led by a stellar performance from pitcher Kendra Knight and a sacrifice fly from Bree Hanafin in the bottom of the ninth to score the winning run in the Terps' final game in the Florida Atlantic Kick-Off Classic.

The Terrapins (4-1) notched their second over a ranked team this year, after beating No. 11 Michigan 7-3 Friday in FAU's tournament.

Knight racked up 11 strikeouts in her complete game outing. She allowed four hits and one run. She struck out the side in the second and third innings.

Kentucky scored its lone run in the top of the fifth. With runners on second and third and two outs, Knight threw a wild pitch that allowed the run to score.

Maryland answered in the bottom of the fifth. Shannon Bustillos led off with a single to right, then advanced to second on a ground out. With two outs, Candice Beards pinch hit and knocked a base hit into left to score pinch runner Bria Taylor from second.

The Terps and the Wildcats would go on to play two extra innings. Knight did not allow Kentucky a hit in either extra inning. Sara Acosta was the Terps' runner placed on second to start the inning.
