COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
The Maryland gymnastics team and head coach Brett Nelligan announced Wednesday that the team's participation in the Pink Ribbons Project raised close to $35,000 for breast cancer research.
At the Pink Meet on Feb. 18, the Terps collected $3,779.95 through t-shirt sales and donations. Combined with the fundraising efforts throughout the year, the team was able to raise just under $35,000.
"Working with the Pink Ribbons Project and the great people from the Baltimore City Cancer Program has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life," said head coach Brett Nelligan. "I know that being involved with the event will be something that stays with our team for years to come.
"I am thrilled that we are able to raise money and make our contribution to the cause," said Nelligan. "I am so thankful to everyone who made this event possible."
The Pink Meet and fundraising for the Pink Ribbons Project was done in conjunction with Greek Life.
