The Maryland gymnastics team travels to Tobacco Road to take on North Carolina Friday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. The Terps (6-4, 2-1 EAGL) met the Tar Heels less than a week ago as part of a tri-meet with Bowling Green State.
Maryland
The Terps moved up one spot to No. 29 in this week's GymInfo Rankings and rank in the top 35 nationally in all four events. Maryland's average score of 193.195 is third in the EAGL trailing only NC State (194.445) and West Virginia (194.365).
Individually, sophomore Katy Dodds (9.855) and junior Ally Krikorian (9.840) are No. 1 and No. 5, respectively, in the conference on vault. Krikorian also ranks fifth on floor (9.810).
Freshman Stephanie Giameo leads the Terps on beam. The Roselle Park, N.J., native is ranked ninth in the conference with a 9.715 average.
Last Time Out
Maryland scored a season-high 194.475 at home against Bowling Green State and North Carolina on Sunday. The Terps' performance yielded their highest scores of the season on vault (48.900) and floor (48.925).
Krikorian won on vault with a season-high 9.925, which is tied for the sixth-best score in program history, and placed second on floor by tying a season-high 9.850. Dodds took top honors on floor by scoring a personal-best 9.875 and finished tied for second on vault with a season-high 9.900.
North Carolina
The Terps handed the Tar Heels their first loss of the season at Comcast Center on Sunday.
North Carolina's scoring average (193.067) is ranked 36th nationally and is the fifth highest in the EAGL behind NC State (194.445), West Virginia (194.365), Maryland (193.915) and New Hampshire (193.625).
The Tar Heels strongest event is bars. Their 48.533 scoring average is the best in the conference and the 25th highest nationally.
Morgan Evans averages 9.875 on bars which is the best in the EAGL and tied for seventh nationally, while Elizabeth Durkac (9.800) and Zoya Johnson (9.800) join Evans to give North Carolina three of the top four performers on bars in the conference.
