AUBURN, Ala. - Maryland took 13th in the 200 free relay to kick off day one of the 2012 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships Thursday at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center.

The team of Megan Lafferty, Carolyn Fittin, Ginny Glover and Jennifer Roberts finished 13th (1:30.10).

Individually, Lafferty just missed the finals with a 21st place showing in the preliminaries of the 50 free (22.45). Fittin was 62nd in the 50 free (23.09) and Roberts took 52nd in the 200 IM (2:01.32).

Maryland enters day two in 23rd place in the overall team standings. Preliminaries of the 200 yard medley relay, 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back and 800 free relay begin at noon Friday.
