Relays Step Up Again at NCAAs Friday

AUBURN, Ala. - Maryland shaved nearly six seconds off its 800 free relay time to notch a 17th place finish Friday at the 2012 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at James E. Martin Aquatics Center.

Ginny Glover, Megan Lafferty, Jennifer Roberts, and Carolyn Fittin racked up its second straight top-20 relay finish of the championships with a season-high performance (7:13.28) in the 800 free relay.

Lafferty narrowly missed the finals for the second straight day, this time finishing 19th in the 100 fly (52.72). Roberts touched the wall 38th (53.98) and Fittin was 53rd (54.79) in the same event.

Glover took 30th in the 100 back (53.53).

Currently No. 32 in the team standings, Maryland returns to action Saturday morning with preliminaries in the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly and 400 free relay.
