COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Sophomore Katy Dodds has been voted East Atlantic Gymnastics League Gymnast of the Week the conference announced Tuesday for her performance on vault, bars and floor, Saturday at No. 12 Penn State. Dodds is the first Maryland gymnast to receive the weekly honor since Abigail Adams won the award on March 16, 2011.

For the third time this season, Dodds tied a career high with a 9.900 on vault to take fourth place behind Penn State's Sharaya Musser and Madison Merriam, who rank fifth and 28th, respectively, nationally on vault, and fellow Terp junior Ally Krikorian.

Dodds and Krikorian helped Maryland post its highest all-time score on the apparatus with a 49.200.

"Katy had an incredible night [Saturday] at Penn State," said head coach Brett Nelligan. "She really went all out for the team on vault and floor. It is a great and well deserved honor."

The Gaithersburg, Md., native tied her career high on floor (9.900) to finish second. Dodds' performance marked the fourth time in the past five meets she has scored a 9.875 or higher on floor.

Dodds posted a 9.750, 0.50 shy of her career high, on bars to place ninth.

With Dodds' help, the Terps posted a season-high 195.500 Saturday night at Penn State. It was the third consecutive meet Maryland scored a season high.

Maryland travels to Pittsburgh, Pa., Saturday for the EAGL Championships. The meet is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
