CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Korey Wacker went 2-for-4 with two runs, David Carroll held Boston College to one run in eight innings and Maryland defeated the Eagles 7-1 Saturday afternoon.

Wacker was the ultimate utility man for the Terps (18-11, 3-9 ACC), tallying two hits, two runs, two stolen bases and an RBI before coming on to pitch in the ninth inning. The all-around effort proved critical in helping Maryland take the third and final game of the series.

The Terrapins took command of the game with an explosive five-run fourth inning. Alfredo Rodriguez knocked in two runners with a single to left, while Wacker and Jack Cleary each tallied RBIs with singles of their own to give the Terps a 5-0 lead.

Carroll pitched eight strong innings, keeping the Eagles (12-15, 4-8) primarily at bay for most of the afternoon behind seven strikeouts. Wacker came on in relief in the ninth and capped off his versatile performance with a three up, three down inning.

After allowing a run in the fifth, Maryland tacked on an additional two runs to extend its lead to 7-1.

The game was originally slated for Sunday, but was moved to Saturday due to possible inclement weather.

The Terps begin a 10-game home swing on Tuesday, April 3 against George Mason at 6 p.m.
