TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Maryland softball team fell to Massachusetts, 4-1, Sunday in its final game in the Easton Alabama Invite in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Sophomore Candice Beards drove in the Terps' (11-6) run in the top of the first. The Minutewomen (7-7) loaded the bases with three straight walks. With two outs, Beards was hit with a pitch to score a run.

The Terps left 13 runners on base and had three hits.

UMass scored two runs in both the bottom of the first and the bottom of the second.

Junior Lexi Carroll started in the circle and allowed all four Minutewomen runs off two hits in her 1.2 innings.

Senior Kendra Knight came on to pitch the final 4.1 innings and did not allow a hit. She notched seven strikeouts.

Next, the Terrapins play host to the annual Maryland Round Robin, as part of Wounded Warrior Weekend. Maryland will play Princeton Friday at 3 p.m. and Rhode Island at 5 p.m. On Saturday, the Terps will face Princeton at 3 p.m. and Kent State at 5 p.m., with a 1:30 p.m. game vs. Kent State Sunday.
