COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland men's golf team is back in action this weekend at the General Jim Hackler Championship at DeBordieu Club in Georgetown, S.C., hosted by Coastal Carolina. First and second round action will be held on Sunday, March 11 beginning at 7:30 a.m., with the final round scheduled for Monday, March 12.

The Terps
Maryland opened its spring schedule Monday at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate. Led by freshman Ben Warnquist, the Terps placed 14th in the 18-team field. Warnquist was Maryland's low scorer with a 14-over 224 (77-74-73) to tie for 45th.

Including results from the fall, the Terps are averaging a 291.4 per 18 holes as a team with a three-round average of 874.3.

Freshman Jordan Sweet is the team's low scorer through six events with a minimum of four rounds played. The Bowie, Md., native is averaging 73.28 per 18 with eight rounds at or below par and two rounds below 70.

Senior Joey Rice and sophomore Sean Bosdosh are ranked two and three, respectively, on the team in scoring. Rice averages 73.33 per round and Bosdosh averages 73.50 per 18 holes.

General Hackler Championship
DeBordieu Club is the site for this year's tournament. It is the 10th installment of the General Hackler Championship, but the first to be held at the DeBordieu Club.

The par-71, 7,189-yard course was designed by Pete and P.B. Dye.

It is Maryland's first trip to the tournament. This year's field includes four teams that competed in the 2011 NCAA Regionals and three teams that qualified for nationals.

Besides Maryland, this year's field includes: Coastal Carolina, Air Force, Arkansas, Augusta State, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, Furman, Lamar, Navy, New Mexico, North Florida, Pepperdine, Tennessee, Virginia
