Head Coach Laura Watten returns seven starters and 12 letterwinners from last year's NCAA Regionals squad.
In 2011, senior Vangie Galindo had one of the greatest seasons at the plate in Terrapin softball history. Her season average of .422 and 78 hits last year were both school records. Galindo is batting .340 in her career, which is the best career average in school history. Bree Hanafin's career average of .323 is second-best and Kathy McLaughlin's career average of .293 is tied for No. 9 in school history.
On Wednesday, Galindo broke Jenny Belak's record of 60 career stolen bases. She had two Wednesday night and now has 62.
Senior Kendra Knight is currently No. 2 in Terp history in career strikeouts with 733. She is just the second Terrapin to break the 700-K mark.
After this weekend's performance, she has 252 strikeouts this season, which is third-best in school season strikeout records. She is the only Terrapin other than All-American Kelly Shipman to record over 250 strikeouts in a season.
Knight threw her third career no-hitter Wednesday night vs. Delaware State. It was her second no-no in a week, after doing the same vs. Howard. She held the Hornets hitless through the five innings of game one. In her 11.1 innings pitched, she allowed one hit and four walks and racked up 24 strikeouts.
