CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Maryland softball team used offense from a variety of weapons and strong pitching from Kendra Knight to take two games at Boston College Saturday. The Terps (31-18, 7-7 ACC) fought off a late Eagles rally to win 4-3 in game one and then won 4-1 in the second game.

Senior Kendra Knight pitched all 14.0 innings for the Terrapins and allowed eight hits, four runs and tallied 14 strikeouts. Shannon Bustillos and Kathy McLaughlin each had three hits on the day and McLaughlin had two RBI. Seven Terps notched hits between the two games.

In game one, the Eagles took their only lead with a lead off solo home run by Nicole D'Argento in the bottom of the first.

The Terrapins would tie it up in the top of the second with Amanda McCann's sacrifice fly with no outs and the bases loaded to score Bria Taylor. They would take the lead on the next play on an Eagles error.

McLaughlin made it 3-1 Terps in the top of the fourth when she hit an infield single with runners on first and second. Maryland added its fourth run in the top of the fifth when Candice Beards scored on a Boston College throwing error.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Eagles added two runs off a wild pitch and an RBI single by Tory Speer.

In game two, the Terrapins took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first after singles by Kathy McLaughlin and Bustillos. McLaughlin scored the first run of the game off an Eagles throwing error trying to catch Bustillos stealing second. Acosta brought in her second RBI of the day with a base hit through the left side to score Bustillos.

Maryland added its third run of the game with back-to-back doubles by Melissa Mancuso and McLaughlin in the top of the fourth.

In the top of the sixth, the Terrapins got another run to make it 4-0 when pinch runner Bria Taylor scored off another Boston College error.

The Eagles got their only run of the game in the bottom of the sixth when Brittany Wilkins homered to right center field.

With the wins, the Terps reached the 30-win mark for the third consecutive year and sixth in head coach Laura Watten's seven years.

The Terrapins and the Eagles will close out the series with a 1 p.m. game Sunday.

Next, the Terrapins will close the regular season with a three-game series at home vs. No. 17 Florida State May 5-6. They will play a doubleheader May 5 at 1 p.m. and a single game May 6 at noon.
