This marks Maryland's third straight NCAA Regionals appearance (2010, 2011, 2012) for the first time in school history, and all are under seventh-year head coach Laura Watten. Prior to 2010, the Terrapins' only Regionals appearance was in 1999.

To end the regular season, the Terps won 14 of 16 games to clinch their Regionals bid. Last weekend, they took two of three from No. 19 Florida State in College Park.

Seniors Vangie Galindo, Kathy McLaughlin and pitcher Kendra Knight were named to the All-ACC Team on Thursday. Galindo and McLaughlin were voted to the First Team, while Knight made the Second Team.

In the Terrapins' ACC Quarterfinals game Thursday, Knight became the first Terrapin to notch 300 strikeouts in one season. She now has 301 on the year and is No. 2 on Maryland's all-time strikeout list with 782. She led the ACC in strikeouts, opposing batting average (.172), and innings pitched (254.0).

McLaughlin led the ACC with her .379 average through the regular season and her .460 average at the plate in league games. Last week, Galindo became Maryland's all-time hits leader with her 220th. She led the ACC in hits this season with 64.
