COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Eight student-athletes from the University of Maryland have earned invitations to postseason competition, the NCAA announced on Thursday.

Three-time All-American Kiani Profit will move directly to the NCAA National Championships in the heptathlon. The Nationals, to be held June 6 to 9 at Drake University, take the top 24 competitors directly to the heptathlon competition. With her school-record mark of 5,695 points, Profit is seeded seventh in the nation in that event.

Two-time IC4A champion Zack Ray made the qualifying list for the East Regional Preliminaries in both the hurdle events he won last weekend at Princeton. Ray will compete in both the 110- and 400-meter hurdles at the East Prelims, to be held May 24 to 26 in Jacksonville, Fla.

Men's high jumper Jon Hill, who also won the IC4A title last weekend, has earned the 16th seed in the field for the East rounds.

Junior Moriah Young has qualified in both the women's shot put and hammer competitions. She will be joined in the hammer throw prelims by teammate Jessie Echard.

Maryland will also have two competitors in the women's high jump, as sophomore Amina Smith and freshman Amber Melville will be in the field. Freshman Thea LaFond will compete in the women's triple jump.

The declared competitors with the top 48 marks in the eastern half of the U.S. were invited to the East Prelims. In Jacksonville, qualifying rounds will be held to determine the top 12 finishers and finalists who will move on to the NCAA Nationals.
