Harman Named Second Team All-ACC

May 21, 2012

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland senior pitcher Brett Harman has been named to the 2012 All-ACC Baseball Team, the conference office announced on Monday.

Harman, who went 6-4 with a 3.04 ERA this season, was named to the second team. He is Maryland's first selection to the All-ACC Baseball Team since Kevin Hart and Anthony Buffone were named to the first team in 2004.

"Brett is very deserving of this recognition," said head coach Erik Bakich. "It's a testament to his ability, leadership, work ethic and resiliency over the last five years. Brett has been a rock of stability to our pitching staff and our program would not have had the success we had this season without him."

The leader of a pitching staff that led the league in ERA much of the year before finishing the regular season third, Harman ranks highly in several statistical categories. His 6.38 innings pitched per game ranks fifth in the ACC, his 73 strikeouts are 11th and his 3.04 ERA is 15th.

Harman is also tied for second in school history with 254 career strikeouts, while his 16 career wins are tied for fifth.
