EUGENE, Ore. - Three-time All-American Kiani Profit, who finished her eligibility at the University of Maryland with a trip to the NCAA Outdoor Championships earlier this month, will compete in the heptathlon at the U.S. Olympic Trials on Friday and Saturday.

Profit, who hails from Pasadena, Calif., is part of a strong field that will battle for a berth to the 2012 Olympic Games to be held in London. She finished ninth at the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Nationals in the heptathlon.

The top three finishers at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials who have hit the Olympic `A' standard of 6,150 points qualify for the London Games.

Competition begins in the heptathlon on Friday with the 100-meter hurdles at 1:30 p.m. ET. The high jump, shot put and 200 will be contested on Friday, with Saturday's three events scheduled to begin with the long jump at 6 p.m.

Profit's All-America honors have come at the 2010 NCAA heptathlon (2nd) and at the NCAA pentathlon indoors in 2010 (2nd) and 2011 (T2nd).

Terps Represented at NACAC U-23 Championships

Profit is also scheduled to compete in the heptathlon for Team USA at the NACAC (North American, Central American and Caribbean) Under-23 Championships in Mexico from July 6 to 9. Should she make the U.S. Olympic team this weekend, she would not compete in Mexico. She won the NACAC U-23 title in 2010.

The University of Maryland will also be represented at that meet by rising sophomore Thea LaFond, who will compete for Dominica in the women's triple jump.

Assistant coach Danielle Siebert will also be on the Team USA management staff for that competition.
