COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Following a last-second defeat at the hands of Florida State on Wednesday, Maryland returns home to face Wake Forest Saturday at 2 p.m. The Terps are 13-1 in Comcast Center this season, with the lone loss coming to the Seminoles, 65-62, on Jan. 9.

Storyline
• Against Florida State, Maryland lost for the first time this season when holding a lead with 5:00 to play after winning its previous 14 in that scenario. The Terps went ahead 62-54 on Alex Len's dunk with 6:56 left, but the Seminoles went on a 6-0 run and eventually tied it at 66-66 on Ian Miller's jumper with 2:32 left. Dez Wells scored the final five points for Maryland, knocking down a 3-pointer and a long two, but FSU drew within 71-70 on a Michael Snaer jumper with 45 seconds left. Snaer then knocked down the game-winning 3-pointer with 1.1 seconds left.
• Wells, who scored 13 of his 19 points in the second half against FSU, leads the team in scoring in conference games with 12.1 points per game. In Maryland's four conference road games he's averaged 17.8 points per game and on the season, is averaging 12.2 points, second on the team behind Alex Len (12.8).
• The Terps had their best offensive output - shooting 49.1 percent and totaling 71 points - since the conference opener against Virginia Tech, when they shot 51.7 percent and totaled 94 points. They had been 11-0 this year when shooting better than 45 percent and 10-0 when scoring more than 70 points, but for the second straight game the opponent also shot better than 45 percent and scored 70-plus points.
• Still, Maryland has been one of the better teams in the nation in terms of field goal percentage defense, having entered the week ranked fourth in that category at .360. Just Kansas (34.9), Texas (35.3) and Syracuse (35.9) have held opponents to a lower percentage.
Maryland-Wake Forest Series History
• Maryland leads the all-time series with Wake Forest, 66-56, which dates back to 1952-53. The Terps have won 9 of 11 since 2006. At home, Maryland leads the series 37-18.
• The Terps have won four straight, including both meetings last season. The Terps defeated the Demon Deacons 70-64 at home on 1/11/2012 and 82-60 on 3/8/2012 in the ACC Tournament first round.
Quick Hitters
• Maryland's 51-50 win over then-No. 14 NC State on Jan. 16 was its first win over a ranked opponent since March 3, 2010, when it beat No. 4 Duke 79-72 at home.
• Maryland ranks third in the ACC in field goal percentage at .466, behind just Duke (.467) and NC State (.503). The Terps have shot above 40 percent in each of the past three contests, snapping a streak of four straight games in which they shot under 40 percent. Prior to that streak of four games, Maryland had shot better than 40 percent in 12 of its previous 13 games.
• The Terps are 14-1 this season when they have the lead with 5:00 left in the game, and 1-0 when tied with 5:00 left. The lone loss came at Florida State (1/30).
• The 13-game winning streak Maryland went on earlier this season is tied for the second longest in school history, trailing just the 14-game streak the Terps went on in 1931-32. Maryland also went on a 13-game win streak in 2001-02, the year they went on to win the national title.
• It was also the 11th time in school history Maryland has put together a 10-game winning streak. In the past 30 years, Maryland has gone on a 10-game winning streak on six occasions, and in each of the previous instances it has gone on to play in the NCAA Tournament.

Logan Aronhalt is averaging one 3-point field goal made for every 7.1 minutes on the floor. By comparison, the ACC leader in 3PT FGs made, Scott Wood of NC State, makes one 3-pointer every 12.7 minutes on the floor.
• Seven of the 10 players in Maryland's regular rotation are underclassmen and 81 percent of Maryland's scoring (58.0 of 71.4 points per game) is coming from underclassmen. Additionally, Maryland's top five scorers are underclassmen.
• At least eight players have scored in 18 of Maryland's 21 games this year. The exceptions are vs. George Mason, at Miami and at North Carolina, when just seven players scored.
• The Terps are 10-2 when making more free throws than the opponent, and just 3-4 when making fewer free throws.

Shaquille Cleare drew starts against UMES, it marked the first time Maryland started three true freshmen since Dec. 28, 1993, when
Keith Booth, Matt Kovarik and Joe Smith did vs. Hofstra. That trio also started at Florida State (1/30).

Charles Mitchell earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors on Dec. 31 for his play against Delaware State on Dec. 29. Mitchell came off the bench to score 19 points and grab 14 rebounds, both career highs. Mitchell is the second Terp to earn weekly ACC honors;
Alex Len was Player of the Week on Nov. 12.
Hitting the Mark
• Maryland has assisted on 59 percent (326 of 551) of its field goals this season. The Terps have recorded double-digit assists in 19 of 21 games (exceptions are at Miami & at North Carolina), and ranks second in the ACC with 15.5 per game. Maryland is 14-1 when recording at least 14 assists.
• On average, Maryland has recorded 17.7 assists per game in wins, while in its six losses it has averaged just 10.0.
Field-goal Percentage Defense
• Maryland leads the ACC and ranks fourth nationally in field goal percentage defense at .364. The Terps have held 13 of the last 17 opponents under 40 percent shooting, though each of the last two opponents have shot better than 45 percent. Maryland held its first six ACC opponents under 38 percent shooting, before Duke and FSU hit above 45.

• Maryland's bench has been an asset all season, as the Terps' non-starters have outscored the opponents non-starters in 18 of 21 games (exceptions are Kentucky, George
Mason & North Carolina).
• On the year, Maryland's bench has a 542-229 (25.8 to 10.9 per game) advantage over the opponent.
• All 10 players in Maryland's regular rotation are averaging double-figure minutes, and no player is averaging more than 27 minutes per game (
Dez Wells is first at 26.5).

Logan Aronhalt has been a consistent contributor as a long-range specialist. He is nine 3-point field goals made shy of qualifying for the ACC lead, but his .471 mark from beyond the arc would lead the league. He has made at least one 3-pointer in 17 of 21 games this season. Of his 37 field goals made this season, 33 are 3-pointers.
