Storyline
• Legendary coach Charles "Lefty" Driesell will be honored at halftime of Saturday's game. Driesell became Maryland's head coach for the 1969-70 season, when the Terrapins had won only one Atlantic Coast Conference title and had made just one NCAA Tournament appearance. In his 17 seasons at Maryland, Driesell compiled a 348-159 record, won one ACC title and led the Terps to eight NCAA Tournament appearances.

• Maryland is 18-8 and 6-7 in the ACC after a 69-58 setback at Boston College on Tuesday. Logan Aronhalt poured in a season-high 26 points - the most by a Terp this season - but was the only Maryland player to reach double figures. The Terps led 33-26 at halftime and 50-49 with 5:14 to play, but the Eagles used a 12-0 run over the next 3:19 to take control.
• The Terps have been at their best inside Comcast Center, where they own a 15-2 record which includes an upset over then second-ranked Duke last Saturday. In home games, Maryland has shot 50.7 percent from the field while holding opponents to a .366 mark, and the Terps have outscored opponents by an average margin of 14.2 points at home.
• Maryland had a streak of seven straight games shooting at least 40 percent snapped at Boston College, when it hit just 35.7 percent. Still, the Terps rank third in the conference in field goal percentage at .471, behind just NC State (.497) and Duke (.472). Maryland also ranks first in the league and eighth nationally in field goal percentage defense, having held opponents to a .373 mark this season.
Maryland-Clemson Series History
• The Terps own the upper hand in the all-time series with Clemson, leading 89-49 since the series began in 1938. Maryland is 52-11 at home vs. the Tigers, including a 5-2 mark at Comcast Center.
• The Terps have won three straight in the series. Last year, Maryland won 64-62 at Clemson.
Driesell to be Honored
• The University of Maryland athletics department will dedicate a bronze bas-relief of Charles "Lefty" Driesell in a ceremony at Comcast Center on April 16, 2013. He is also being honored during halftime of Saturday's game. Driesell, who coached at Davidson prior to coming to Maryland and went on to stints at James Madison and Georgia State, compiled a 786-394 record in his 40-plus years as a head coach. He was the originator of "Midnight Madness" to open practice at the beginning of the season in 1971. He is a member of the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame and the University of Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame.
Quick Hitters
• Logan Aronhalt connected on seven 3-pointers at Boston College on Tuesday. That's the most by a Terp since Mike Jones hit a Comcast Center record nine on Dec. 28, 2006, vs. Missouri-Kansas City.
• Aronhalt's 26 points were the most by a Terrapin this season. Dez Wells has three 20-point efforts, while Alex Len, Jake Layman and Seth Allen each have one.
• The Terps set season highs in 3-point field goals made (11) and percentage (.688) against Wake Forest (2/2).
• Maryland did not beat a ranked opponent in either of the last two seasons. The Terps have knocked off two this year: No. 14 NC State, and No. 1/2 Duke.
• The Terps are 17-1 this season when they have the lead with 5:00 left in the game, and 1-0 when tied with 5:00 left. The lone loss came at Florida State (1/30).
• The 13-game winning streak Maryland went on earlier this season is tied for the second longest in school history, trailing just the 14-game streak the Terps went on in 1931-32. Maryland also went on a 13-game win streak in 2001-02, the year they went on to win the national title.
• Logan Aronhalt is averaging one 3-point field goal made for every 7.5 minutes on the floor. By comparison, the ACC leader in 3PT FGs made, Scott Wood of NC State, makes one 3-pointer every 12.0 minutes on the floor.
• At least eight players have scored in 23 of Maryland's 26 games this year. The exceptions are vs. George Mason, at Miami and at North Carolina, when just seven players scored.
• The Terps are 14-2 when making as many or more free throws than the opponent, and 4-5 when making fewer free throws.
• When Seth Allen, Jake Layman and Shaquille Cleare drew starts against UMES, it marked the first time Maryland started three true freshmen since Dec. 28, 1993, when Keith Booth, Matt Kovarik and Joe Smith did vs. Hofstra. The Terps have started three freshmen in a game four times this season.
Youth Movement
• Seven of the 10 players in Maryland's regular rotation are underclassmen and 80 percent of Maryland's scoring (56.8 of 71.3 points per game) is coming from underclassmen. Maryland's top four scorers are underclassmen in sophomores Alex Len (12.4 ppg), Dez Wells (11.8 ppg) and Nick Faust (8.0 ppg) and freshman Seth Allen (7.7 ppg).
• Just twice in the past 30 years has a larger percentage of Maryland's scoring come from underclassmen. In 2003-04, 82 percent came from underclassmen, and in 1993-94, 97 percent did.
• Additionally, 99 of 130 possible starts (76%) this season have gone to underclassmen. That is the second-highest percentage in the past 30 years, behind only 1993-94 when every start went to underclassmen.
• The Terps have just one 1,000-point scorer on the roster this season in graduate student Logan Aronhalt. Aronhalt scored 1,100 points at Albany before transferring to Maryland prior to this season. Maryland's next top scorer is senior James Padgett with 617 career points, followed by Wells (619), Faust (494) and Len (453).
Hitting the Mark
• Maryland has assisted on 58 percent (398 of 681) of its field goals this season. The Terps have recorded double-digit assists in 24 of 26 games (exceptions are at Miami & at North Carolina), and rank second in the ACC with 15.3 per game. Maryland is 16-2 when recording at least 14 assists.
• On average, Maryland has recorded 17.3 assists per game in wins, while in its seven losses it has averaged just 10.8.
Hot Shooting
• Maryland ranks third in the ACC in field goal percentage at .471, behind just NC State (.497) and Duke (.472). That marks also ranks 22nd nationally. The Terps had shot above 40 percent in seven straight contests until shooting 35.7 percent at Boston College. Maryland has shot better than 50 percent 11 times this season.
• Against Wake Forest (2/2), Maryland recorded its fifth-best field goal percentage in program history at .673. The four single-game marks better than that are: .833 (15-18) vs. South Carolina, 1/9/71; .739 (34-46) vs. Wake Forest, 1/28/86; .732 (30-41) vs. NC State, 12/20/80; and .704 (50-71) vs. Miami (OH), 12/28/79.
Field Goal Percentage Defense
• Maryland leads the ACC and ranks eight nationally in field goal percentage defense at .373. The Terps have held 16 of the last 22 opponents under 40 percent shooting, including eight of 12 ACC opponents. Just Kansas (.356), Southern U. (.363), Texas (.365), Texas-Arlington (.367), Syracuse (.371), Florida (.371) and Stephen F. Austin (.372) have held opponents to a lower mark than Maryland has.
Super Subs
• Maryland's bench has been an asset all season, as the Terps' non-starters have outscored the opponents non-starters in 23 of 26 games (exceptions are Kentucky, George Mason & North Carolina).
• On the year, Maryland's bench has a 687-299 (26.4 to 11.5 per game) advantage over the opponent.
• All 10 players in Maryland's regular rotation are averaging double-figure minutes, and no player is averaging more than 28 minutes per game (Dez Wells is first at 27.1).
• Logan Aronhalt has been a consistent contributor as a long-range specialist. He is five 3-point field goals made shy of qualifying for the ACC lead, but his .485 mark from beyond the arc would lead the league. He has made at least one 3-pointer in 22 of 26 games this season. Of his 56 field goals made this season, 47 are 3-pointers.
